Commencement Spring 2010
The date for the Spring 2010 Legal Studies Commencement ceremony is Saturday, May 15th, 2010 in Zellerbach Auditorium with a reception to follow in the lobby. The reception will follow the ceremony in the lobby. In the past, the ceremony lasts about an hour. Look for listserve messages regarding details during the Spring 10 semester. The department holds one ceremony which happens only in spring and includes just the Legal Studies undergrads.
The Fall 2009 all-school convocation info is posted on the following website: http://seniors.berkeley.edu/
On-Line Courses
**Please be aware that the faculty will not accept online courses to be used towards the Legal Studies major requirements until further notice. If you have already taken an online course, contact Lauri to discuss. **
Discussion Sections
Discussion sections for Legal Studies courses do not begin meeting until the 2nd week of Instruction.
Waitlists
Waitlists for Legal Studies courses are manually processed. Priority for seating will be given to declared Legal Studies students. If you are waitlisted, the number of students we are able to add is determined by the number who are dropped for non-attendance during the first two weeks or drop on their own. Available seats will correspond to the discussion sections of the dropped students. (i.e., If a student in section 103 is dropped, a student waitlisted for section 103 will be added.) Usually one or two days before the semester begins, open seats normally reserved for the Legal Studies majors, will be given to non-declared students from the waitlist. This will open spaces on the waitlist. Keep an eye out for these new waitlist spaces and, as always, go to class if you are serious about enrolling. The professors and GSIs take roll and will drop those who don’t attend for the first couple of weeks.
Fall 2009 Graduates
Fall 2009 graduates, remember to add yourselves to the Fall Degree List. Usually you would do this via Tele-Bears and request a DAR (Degree Audit Report) on BearFacts to be sure you’re covering all of your graduation requirements. After Friday, 10/16/09 (8th week) you will need to submit a Petition to Add Late. Let Lauri know via e-mail that you will be submitting the petition so that she can send in a Major Approval Memo to the College regarding your Legal Studies requirements. If you are taking a course at a JC this Fall, make sure to send an official transcript to the Evaluations Unit at the College (113 Campbell Hall #2924) *not* the Registrar.
Also, only put yourself on the degree list if you know you will be done with all requirements by the end of the Fall 2009 semester.
Spring 2010 Graduates
The easiest way to add yourself to the Spring 2010 degree list is through Telebears when you’re signing up for Spring classes. Only add yourself if you know you will have completed all requirements for everything by the end of Spring 2010. You may also add yourself to the degree list by filling out the Petition to Add to the Degree List at 113 Campbell Hall.
