Although hiring by employers seems uncertain, this is a great time to develop skills to increase your marketability. After you complete an online course you can then take a skill assessment on Linkedin and if you pass you can highlight that skill on your profile! This helps recruiters see that you are proficient in the skills that you list on your Linkedin profile!

Living Documents for Hiring/Job Freezes
Lists are being created online where people are gathering information about exactly which companies are continuing or discontinuing their internship programs. One of these lists is on GitHub titled 2020 Internship Status – COVID-19. Candor has a list as well titled Who’s freezing hiring from coronavirus. Use your due diligence when making decisions based on these lists and reach out directly to companies to get up to date information on the status of their internship programs.

The firm is seeking a legal assistant to join their team. The job requires flexibility, initiative, common sense, and good humor. Part-time, but would consider part-time to full-time for the right candidate. Schedule is open to negotiation. At this point, the work would be remote, but in-office work eventually contemplated.
The legal assistant’s job duties include:
- File and serve pleadings in state and federal courts
- Prepare case-related documents – letters, briefs, proofs of service, discovery documents
- Maintain case files in our cloud-based system
- Conduct intakes of potential clients who contact the firm regarding legal representation
- Working with partners and other staff on specific case-related and administrative projects
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word (including tables of contents and tables of authorities), Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Strong internet research and proof-reading skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Prior experience working in a law firm
- Experience with electronic court filing, service, and research platforms, including ECF, Pacer, and Westlaw
- Understanding of legal calendar deadlines, court rules and procedures, filing processes, and legal documents.
- Spanish speaking
