1) Living Catalogue!

Living Catalogue!

Interested in exploring a Legal Studies course in the Spring? Meet the professors first! The Living Catalogue is for you, taking place this Wednesday night (Oct. 16) 5-7 pm at 2240 Piedmont (the Legal Studies building). Free pizza and refreshments will be provided.

We will be bringing in several professors who will be teaching Legal Studies courses next semester as they introduce the course objectives, assignments, and answer your questions. We also have syllabi from professors who will not be present.

This is a great opportunity to get a taste of different Legal Studies courses, mingling with professors and your fellow peers. This event is open to ALL MAJORS – we encourage everyone to come out.

4) Affirm, Inc. Job

Affirm, Inc. Job

I am a UC Berkeley graduate from the Legal Studies Honors Program.  I am currently working at Affirm, Inc., a financial technology company here in San Francisco.  We have an opening for an Associate Paralegal position, and it would be a great opportunity for any recent graduate who is interested in gaining legal in-house experience.  Here is the job posting link for your reference: https://jobs.lever.co/affirm/7724d105-6815-4040-b076-d3b1083ec389.  The requirements list at least 2+ working experience, but we are open to hiring candidates with a strong academic background who don’t necessarily have the full 2+ working experience.  If there are any students/graduates who are interested, you can direct them to me at the email below.

Let me know if you have any questions!  Thank you.

NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THE CALIFORNIA LEGAL STUDIES JOURNAL 2020

Berkeley Legal Studies Association is currently accepting submissions for The California Legal Studies Journal 2020. We are seeking papers pertaining to law and legal studies. However, neither you nor the class for which the paper was written must be from the Legal Studies department. We encourage students from ALL disciplines to submit papers, as the study of law itself is an interdisciplinary effort.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions should be selected from your upper-division courses and seminars, independent studies, honor thesis, or elsewhere.

Papers must be a minimum of 10 pages and should follow the MLA style of formatting, with endnotes and a complete bibliography. Please send your submissions to berkeleylegals@gmail.com by January 15th.

In your email please also include an abstract (minimum 100 words), contact information, advisor name (if applicable), the term when the paper was written, your graduation year, and your program of study.

We do not publish previously published works.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us via our email: berkeleylegals@gmail.com
