Informational Session on Teaching English

Have you ever thought about teaching English either here or abroad? Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a great profession for individuals interested in learning about other cultures, travel and/or helping others learning a new language. Here and around the world, qualified English language teachers are in high demand.

Berkeley LTC, a local educational consulting firm, is offering a free informational session on teaching English. We will do a few hands-on activities to familiarize you with what an ESL classroom might look like, discuss current methodology, and then have time for Q&A about jobs and certificate options.

Cal in Capital

Since 1965, Cal in the Capital student-led program trains and prepares 75 UC Berkeley students annually for their search of a summer internship opportunity in Washington, D.C. Cal in the capital interns come from all majors, backgrounds, and area of interests. 3,745 Cal in the Capital interns have served 1,608,489 hours of service in hundreds of professional setting including Congressional offices, federal and other government agencies, think tanks, non-profit organizations, media centers, private companies, and research institutions. All this work is preparing the Cal in the Capital interns for a career in public service.

Coordinate advertising (paper, internet, recruiters) of jobs
Interacts with varying levels of candidates requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

Requirements:

Ability to flex hours depending on needs.  Generally the position starts out with fewer hours until the employee is trained and can work more independently.  After the employee is trained, work hours can be up to 35/week.
